Draper Temple Open House

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the open house and dedication dates for the Draper Utah Mormon Temple (House of the Lord).

Mormons and community friends are welcome to attend an open house tour of the Mormon Draper Temple, or House of the Lord, which will take place between January 15 and March 14, 2009 (excluding Sundays.)

Open house tours allows friends of other faiths an opportunity to walk through and see the beautiful pre-dedicated edifice in which faithful Mormons participate in ordinances or rites pertaining to the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ: baptisms, eternal marriages, and courses of instruction known as temple endowments. This walk-through visit provides an opportunity and reverent time to ask personal questions about our faith and beliefs and to witness the Lord's hand in bringing forth another of His houses on this earth, to assist in the spiritual gathering of His people, and in preparation for His Second Coming.

After the open house, the Draper Temple, as with each newly constructed temple, will be dedicated, or set apart, by priesthood authority, as sacred precincts. This is done as the prophet and President of The Church of Jesus Christ, Thomas S. Monson offers as inspired dedicatory prayer calling forth the Lord's blessings and acceptance of His house, as far as it is continues as a place of holiness to Him.

The dedication of the Mormon temple in Draper, Utah, will take place in 12 sessions between Friday, March 20 and Sunday, March 22, 2009.

The temple will be open for operation on Monday, March 23, 2009.

Tickets for the dedication will be issued through local Mormon priesthood leaders.
